Driven by sheer adrenaline and testosterone, sounding pure, primal and catchy as hell. Rough but obtainable, like tense muscles under soft skin. Just three dudes with their instruments bringing the best they have to offer. That’s Counter Jib.
Counter Jib saw the light in March 2013. After the release of the first EP Secret Showroom and the debut album Mirk & Marvel, which was realized through crowdfunding, the new EP Touch Of Karma is here. Recorded almost completely live this record brings you an even more pure and raw sound. The band reverts to the primal energy the band was founded on and without comprimise takes this energy and, with bare hands, molds it into three burly songs.
After partaking in the traveling music festival Popronde in the fall of 2015 and two tours in Germany and Belgium of which one with the grunge apes Captain Casanova, this spring the band tours for the second time with the ruthless rockers Life’s Electric. Counter Jib has largely proven their explosive character in the live scene, it’s for that reason maybe that the band got invited to play at the pre- and afterparty of the Foo Fighters in Club Ziggo. With their latest release in 2018 Tyrannical Animal, the band shows this beast is far from tamed.
The comparison with the musical heroes Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Soundgarden and Queens Of The Stone Age is inevitable, but it’s clear that Counter Jib has the ambition to earn their own place among them. Tyrannical Animal shows that Florian Wolff, Rolof Groothoff and Wouter de Graaf have a lot more in store for the world. The penny will definitely drop when you’re jumping around to their tunes in front of the stage.

Gedreven door niets dan adrenaline en testosteron, puur en primair, energiek en catchy as hell. Hard maar toegankelijk, als gespannen spieren onder een zachte huid. Gewoon drie gasten met hun instrumenten die het beste uit zichzelf halen. Dat is Counter Jib.
Counter Jib zag het levenslicht in maart 2013, waarna snel de eerste release Secret Showroom het levenslicht zag. Na het debuutalbum Mirk & Marvel, dat door crowdfunding werd gefinancierd, heeft Counter Jib zichzelf weten te positioneren in het Nederlandse rocklandschap. Na Touch Of Karma, bijna volledig live opgenomen, laat Counter Jib zich van een rauwere kant zien. Met hun nieuwste release Tyrannical Animal komt het ware beest in de onstuimige mannen los.
Na deelname aan de Popronde in het najaar van 2015 en inmiddels twee tours in Duitsland en België waarvan één samen met de Deense grunge-apen van Captain Casanova, heeft Counter Jib twee keer door Nederland getourd met de meedogenloze rockers van Life’s Electric. Counter Jib heeft met zijn explosieve karakter in het live-circuit inmiddels zijn sporen wel verdiend, misschien is het daarom niet vreemd dat Club Ziggo de band uitnodigde de pre- en afterparty van de Foo Fighters in de Ziggo Dome te verzorgen.
De associatie met helden als Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Soundgarden en Queens Of The Stone Age is onoverkomelijk, maar duidelijk is dat Counter Jib de ambitie heeft om in dat rijtje zijn eigen plek te veroveren. Met rasse schreden stomen Florian Wolff, Rolof Groothoff en Wouter de Graaf door en laten ze met Tyrannical Animal zien dat ze nog veel voor de wereld in petto hebben. Maar het kwartje valt pas echt als je hossend bij ze in de pit staat.
Die poepdikke single Tyrannical Animal kwam uit in februari 2018.
